Snippet from The Ultra Running Guys
“Our mission is to help you take your next step on your ultra running journey. And, sometimes, if you are like us, you may not know what that next step may look like. Races can come in all different types of formats with varying distances, duration, and locations. Training for ultras often includes considerations for heat training, elevation, and altitude changes. But there are those gems out there that turn the equation around and challenge runners to the other extreme. Welcome to the world of cold. We’d like to introduce you to the Frigid Fox which takes place in January and is a 63 mile trek along the Ice Age Trail in Southeastern Wisconsin with an elevation gain of a little over 7000 feet. The race has a 24 hour cutoff which seems like a generous cutoff until you understand how harsh the weather can be in Wisconsin in January. Part of signing up for this race is that runners acknowledge an understanding that the weather can be unforgiving. That’s what makes this race unique and one heckuva challenge we think. Join us as we sit down with Dustin Schmidt, the Race Director of the Frigid Fox to tell us all about it. If you like the video make sure to hit the like, leave a comment and subscribe. We appreciate you taking the time to join us.”
